UNHCR’s Representation for Central Europe is seeking a Ukrainian refugee with appropriate skills and qualifications for a one-week cooperation in its External Relations Unit. The cooperation would suit predominantly, but not exclusively young people interested in communications, public outreach, and in representing the plight of Ukrainian refugees at public events. The partner will assist the staff of the Unit in preparing for, and participating at Hungary’s biggest music festival, on behalf of the UN refugee agency. The organization’s presence at the event, Sziget Fesztivál, aims to position UNHCR as the leading authority on refugees, in order to improve public awareness on forcibly displaced persons, to drive attention to priority themes, particularly the cause of refugees from Ukraine in Europe, to address misconceptions and fears about refugees and specific situations of forced displacement.
The partner will play an instrumental role in assisting in the organization and implementation of UNHCR’s presence at the most important in-person event of the year. Her/his contribution will increase the organization’s visibility, raise awareness on the issues of forced displacement, and help foster a more open and welcoming host community.
