The Security Management Learning Unit within the Global Learning and Development Centre is aiming – in line with the UN wide security policy framework – to mainstream security considerations throughout all steps of operational activities and all programmes of UNHCR. With respect to its learning objectives, the Security Management Learning Unit delivers its programmes to all levels of UNHCR staff from Directors to Local/National Staff, affiliates, deployees and implementing partners alike.

The intern’s primary focus will be to analyse the role of communication in SMLU’s core learning programmes, with particular attention to the Security Management Learning Programme (SMLP) and the Field Security Development Programme (FSDP). The intern is to review training materials and come up with ideas and recommendations, based on which the SMLU can further develop these learning programmes.

Utilising their fundamental knowledge in psychology, the intern is to support SMLU’s objectives to gamify these learning programmes. The intern is to be involved in the development of a scenario-based activity to be used in future Security Management Learning Programmes. The intern is expected to bring new ideas, along with an “outsider’s view” into the unit, hence broadening the unit’s perspective.

Closing date: 24 April 2019
