Challenge

Stateless people in Canada face significant barriers to accessing legal services due to limited awareness and the absence of a legal framework for statelessness status determination, leaving them vulnerable to social, legal, and economic exclusion.

Solution

The Canadian Centre on Statelessness will develop the Statelessness Knowledge Platform, an online resource to centralize information on statelessness, connect stateless persons with legal professionals, and foster collaboration to improve stateless people’s access to justice. Co-developed with stateless individuals, legal professionals, and educators, the platform will be practical, integrated into legal education, and tailored to lived realities.

Impact

60 individuals benefit from legal support and participation on the platform, while a further 65 people benefit from advocacy and awareness raising. 500 visitors are expected to access the platform in its first year of operation.
