Challenge

Refugees in Uganda and Sub-Saharan Africa face deep financial exclusion: costly remittances, poor exchange rates, documentation barriers, lack of access to crowd funding systems, and limited access to virtual bank cards. These challenges force many to rely on informal systems and limit their participation in the digital economy.

Solution

Lulplay is developing a refugee-led fintech solution offering fast, low-cost, multilingual financial services powered through secure digital financial technology. The solution is designed to make transactions more affordable, accessible, and user-friendly. Refugees will also be trained and engaged as agents, couriers, and KYC officers, helping to build trust while creating livelihood opportunities.

Impact

Improved access to secure and compliant digital financial services for at least 1,000 refugees in Uganda. The project also aims to finalize the development of three modules in the app (crowdfunding, virtual cards, agent network), supporting full platform deployment.
