Refugee-led informed return lab
Challenge
In Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, Syrian refugees face economic collapse, legal insecurity, and rising xenophobia. Limited residency, extreme poverty, overcrowding, and misinformation deepen marginalization, restricting movement and services while exposing households to unsafe returns and statelessness.
Solution
Frontliners for Change is developing a hybrid physical–digital editorial hub governed and staffed by refugees to monitor, verify, and translate return-relevant information into accessible, trusted content across platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and a dedicated website. Refugee youth will be trained in factchecking, media ethics, and content creation, forming five functional teams.
Impact
This initiative aims to reach 30,000 refugee accounts on social media and respond to more than 1,200 inquiries. It will also facilitate more than 50 safe referrals to legal and protection services, reduce misinformation, and strengthen voluntary, informed decision-making. Twenty refugee youth will be trained in media skills, embedding leadership and capacity within the community.
