Chaartaar band performs charity concert for UNHCR

15 December 2015

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Tehran is pleased to support the very successful charity concert performed by the popular “Chaartaar” band in the Opera House of Tehran “Talare- Vahdat” on 14 December 2015. More than 600 people came to enjoy the concert in a show of support.

UNHCR appreciates the good will of the Chaartaar band and the concert organizer, TM Records, for donating the revenue from ticket sales for this concert to the good cause of “Education for Iranian and Afghan Children in Iran”. Although this is the first experience of its kind for UNHCR Iran, our doors will always be open to collaborations for similar humanitarian causes.

UNHCR commends all Iranians and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for hosting refugees for now over thirty years and providing them access to different services, in particular access to education. Refugee children have enjoyed going to school and studying side by side their Iranian classmates throughout these years. In addition, further to the recent decree of the Supreme Leader, all children, regardless of their status, are now able to enrol in Iranian schools.
