5 February 2023

UNHCR expresses its appreciation to Bulgaria for their first contribution to UNHCR programmes in the areas of education and health for Afghan refugees in Iran. With this contribution, refugee children can benefit from Iran’s inclusive education policies at the same level as Iranian children. UNHCR Deputy Representative, Inna Gladkova, met with H.E. Ambassador Nikolina Kuneva from Bulgaria and thanked her for her country’s generous support to UNHCR operations globally. They discussed the need to maintain joint efforts to support Afghan refugees in Iran even when other crises emerge.
