The UNHCR Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries (RNB) is based in Stockholm, Sweden and is responsible for eight countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden.
Purpose and Scope of Assignment
RNB advocates for child-friendly asylum and migration procedures, which ensures the best interests of and access to durable solutions for each child. The assignment thus aims at further promoting child-friendly reception and asylum systems in Finland by building on the experience and lessons learned in recent years and engaging in partnerships with relevant child protection stakeholders.
The Consultant will:
Carry out an holistic assessment, through stakeholder consultations and desk review, as to the current state of protection of asylum seeking and refugee children in Finland and develop recommendations on concrete improvements to the asylum and reception system that fully takes into account the rights of children.

Good organizational and coordination skills, with ability to understand and assess asylum and child protection systems
Excellent drafting and communications skills in Finnish and English
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications and Experience:
Law Degree preferred but candidates with other qualifications, such as Political or Social Sciences Degree also considered (equivalent of a Masters degree)
Good familiarity with UNHCR and Finnish asylum system
Fluency in Finnish is essential
Familiarity with UNHCR standards and tools pertaining to the protection of asylum-seeking and refugee children.
The consultancy is full-time and is from 01 September 2021 until 30 November 2021. The consultancy is desk-based in UNHCR office in Stockholm, Sweden. Remote work from Finland can be discussed.
Remuneration: Monthly net salary of EUR 3,500
