Preventing Statelessness in Colombia
Genesis became pregnant only a few months after fleeing Venezuela. The status of her son Kristtian, born in Colombia, was uncertain, as he was neither born to a Colombian parent nor to parents who were legally domiciled there. But with the help of a UNHCR-supported legal aid clinic, Genesis and her husband fought successfully to obtain Colombian nationality for him, saving their son from potential statelessness.
