Czech Republic
In 2020, 1,164 asylum seekers were registered by the authorities in the Czech Republic, a significant drop compared to the previous year. There were no unaccompanied children among the new arrivals. Most people of concern were coming from Ukraine, Georgia, and Belarus.
UNHCR's National Office in the Czech Republic is located in Prague; its operations are part of the Multi-Country Office in Budapest. We follow and comment on developments in policy, legislation, and the daily practice of refugee protection. We are working with the Czech government and partner organizations. We are committed to creating public support for asylum-seekers, refugees, and stateless persons.
