Muhammad spent his cash assistance, as well as having to sell his sheep, for medical care for his daughter and newborn grandchild, in addition to food for his family \u2013 oil, flour, sugar, rice and vegetables.  \u201cWe have never tasted chicken, because it is an unheard of luxury\u201d, says his wife.  Their 14-year-old son goes to work on the streets every day, while five younger children attend literacy classes at the local school.  Muhammad\u2019s wife begs for leftovers at a restaurant.  He has also had to borrow money to buy food. ; The protection situation in Yemen has been directly affected by food insecurity and the continuously deteriorating socio-economic situation in Yemen.<br \/>\nLack of employment\/livelihood opportunities, which in turn negatively affected food security in Yemen, was the second biggest cause of displacement in the South of Yemen, and about 75% of the households reached through the protection monitoring in 2020 and 2021 indicated that access to food is their priority needs.<br \/>\nAt the same time, nearly all the assessed population by UNHCR through socio-economic vulnerability assessments mentioned that they had reduced the number of
