Youth are the inexhaustible passion and the hand oftentimes ready to provide what is helpful for their society. Youth are the active and influential part of society. It is our responsibility to invest our energy and ideas as active Syrian youth to advance our society for the better and to work together to address social problems facing our society.

UNHCR, in cooperation with partner organizations and associations in the Syrian governorates, offers you, through the Youth-Led Initiatives Program, the opportunity to acquire the necessary tools and implement your initiatives and thus enhance your effective role in society.

If you are a group of young men and women within the age group of 18-24 and have previously thought of solutions that help solve a social problem, or you have practical ideas that will contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected in Syria and you lack some tools to implement your initiatives, you can enter the link at the bottom of the announcement and fill out the form to benefit from the Youth Initiatives Support Program.

Note 1: Support will be through UNHCR’s partners in the various governorates, who in turn will secure the supplies and materials required to implement the initiative activities.

Note 2: This program is dedicated to supporting youth initiatives that need support for tools, supplies and materials whose value does not exceed an amount of 2,250,000 SYP.

Applications are open until 2 November 2020

Only accepted applications will be contacted, based on the following acceptance criteria:

• The initiative must be issued by a group not individuals or family members. The group should be composed of minimum 8 male and female members. It should include at least 50% from age group 18-24.
• The application form must be completed, with all questions answered in detail and clearly.
• The initiative must be voluntary, non-profit work.
• The gender balance of the self-managed groups and beneficiaries must be taken into consideration.
• The initiative should be addressing risks/concerns of internally displaced persons, refugees, returnees and affected people within the community, such as child protection, protection of older persons, women and girl’s protection, support to persons with disability, gender-based violence prevention, livelihoods, security, education, health, etc.
• The initiative must have a role in strengthening community participation.
• The initiative must be implemented during the current year, and any activities related to the purchase or costs must be completed before 15 December2020.
• The volunteer group must obtain all the necessary approvals and permits before it receives the required support from the program.
• Applicants should be able to provide evidence that their initiative is in line with AGD policy[1] and meets the needs and that the community is interested in their initiatives.
• The volunteer group must be fully aware of COVID-19 risks and abide by MoH and WHO guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19. Risk mitigating measures should be included in the proposal
