UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, together with The Mall Group Co., Ltd., are glad to announce the launch of a long-term commitment under ‘The Mall for UNHCR’ campaign. This partnership aims to support global humanitarian assistance for refugees and encourage durable changes and solidarity from Thai people to refugee families worldwide. The activities featuring Mamuang for UNHCR will take place at the Atrium, G floor, The Mall Lifestore Thapra between 1- 7 December 2022.

In 2022, the number of people forcibly displaced has reached a staggering figure of 103 million and the war in Ukraine has driven the fattest and largest displacement witnessed in decades. However, UNHCR continued to respond to other emergencies, 37 in the past twelve months and protracted situations. Furthermore, displacement is becoming increasingly complex. New factors are forcing people to flee, such as the climate emergency, intersecting with traditional drivers of displacement: persecution, conflict, violence, and human rights violation.

“The speed and scale of displacement have intensified. The continued increase has led to 1 in 77 people worldwide remaining forcibly displaced – an unforeseen level that was hardly predicted in the past decade. Solidarity from all sectors, especially specialised expertise from the private sector, is a significant force behind positive changes, said Arunee Achakulwisut, Private Sector Partnerships Officer, UNHCR Thailand about the current global displacement.

“Social contribution is a vision and strategy to establish a corporate culture for sustainable development that aligns successful business growth with social responsibility and to be a global leader. In a globalization era, we aim to inspire other companies in Thailand to participate in a global movement and to contribute positive changes to the world,” said Woraluk Tulaporn, Chief Marketing Officer of The Mall Group Co., Ltd.

“Refugee crisis affects us all, whether we realize it or not. Global forced displacement grew substantially and required more assistance and protection. Whatever you can do, whether it is an awareness raising on social media or fundraising support, every action from everyone and every sector is the voice of hope for refugees,” Piyarat Kaljareuk, Vice President of Kantana Group Public Co.,Ltd. and UNHCR High Profile Supporter added.

Join The Mall for UNHCR campaign by collecting 6 Mamuang for UNHCR stamps – designed by Wisut “Tum” Ponnimit, a well-known illustrator in Thailand and Japan – at the UNHCR activity booth in The Mall and The Mall Lifestore in Bangkok to receive a special prize. Follow the UNHCR Facebook page to see the journey of Mamuang’s sharing love, kindness, and generosity with fellow human beings at The Mall.
