Hannah Rose Thomas’ exhibition explores themes of loss and trauma through portraits of displaced women around the world.

To mark World Refugee Day on 20 June, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is proud to support the launch of Tears of Gold, an exhibition in the UK Houses of Parliament featuring a powerful series of portraits of some of the women Thomas met.

The collection features Syrian refugees in Jordan, Rohingya women who fled violence in Myanmar, Nigerian women who survived sexual violence by armed groups, and Yazidi women from the Kurdistan region of Iraq who inspired the title of the exhibition. Her most recent works include Ukrainian women who have sought refuge in the UK.
