Nominations open for the Women on the Move Awards 2018
Nominations are now open for the four categores: Woman of the Year, Young Woman of the Year (deadline 8th December), The Sue lloyd-Roberts Media Award (deadline 31st January) and the Champion Award (deadline TBC).

The Women on the Move Awards recognise and celebrate women who have migrated or fled persecution themselves and find time to provide essential support and inspiring leadership on a grassroot level to others starting a new life in the UK.
Migrants and refugees cross borders to live among us for many reasons. Some come fleeing human rights abuses. Some come to join other members of their families. But when they arrive here they often find that they face new challenges and problems. Some not only rise to these challenges for themselves, they also help others to succeed.

The legacy of these awards goes beyond the ceremony, towards the creation of a more positive discourse on migration. The importance of recognising these incredible women as women who have helped their community goes beyond the individual and helps us to shift the conversation from one about ‘victims’ to one of shared humanity and community.
