World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Zambia

Radio programmes were aired on ZNBC radio and Radio Phoenix to raise awareness about refugees, protection issues and durable solutions and to highlight the local WRD theme of "Unheard voices of refugee Children."

On 16 June, an ecumenical service was held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka. From 15-17 June, refugee arts and crafts exhibitions were displayed at the Crossroad and Arcades shopping centres.

On 20 June, a celebration took place at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus with dance, poetry and musical performances organized by refugees and locals. Listeners had the opportunity to ask questions about refugees on live phone-in programmes aired by Radio Phoenix. ZNBC Radio vernacular language station aired two pre-recorded programmes featuring refugees.
