Model UN

Model UN

What if students could shape solutions to help people forced to flee their homes?

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is challenging Model United Nations delegates worldwide to debate the major issues related to forced displacement.

Invite your delegates to learn more about UNHCR and the forcibly displaced

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution. We invite Model UN conferences to learn more about the work of UNHCR and debate the major issues related to forced displacement.

More than 400,000 students take part in Model UN every year and setting up a UNHCR committee for your conference to debate these issues or debating them through related committees (e.g. General Assembly, Security Council, ECOSOC) is an important way your peers can learn more about forced displacement.

Please see below for a list common issues that impact UNHCR’s work, and download the background guides to help inform your debates.

Requesting a Guest Speaker

If you would like to request a UNHCR guest speaker to your Model UN Conference, please do so by emailing [email protected] with the date, time and location of your request. We cannot guarantee speaker availability but will do our best to fulfill requests.
