Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways

An annual multilateral event that brings together UNHCR, UN Member States, the private sector, academia, NGOs and refugees to discuss and advance resettlement policy.

Plenary session at the 2025 Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways.

The Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways (CRCP), formerly the Annual Tripartite Consultations on Resettlement (ATCR) event is the most important multilateral forum for UNHCR, States, the private sector, academia, NGOs and refugees to discuss and advance resettlement issues of common interest.

It allows for open and frank dialogue and strives to produce positive outcomes by forging collaborative approaches to global resettlement.

Since 1995, this annual event has provided an opportunity to address a wide range of policy and procedural matters, including advocacy, capacity building and operational support.

An important outcome of the CRCP is the continued promotion and development of new and innovative ways to solve problems and combine resources to improve resettlement and complementary pathways for refugees

2026 Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways (CRCP)

The 2026 CRCP will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 15 to 16 June 2026. It will be chaired by:

  • the Government of Norway, represented by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security
  • the Government of Sweden, represented by the Ministry of Justice.

The Norwegian Red Cross will serve as the NGO Chair.

The 2026 theme is focused on “The way forward for resettlement and complementary pathways in challenging times”. In view of changing operational and funding realities, the 2026 event will take a renewed shape, as a roundtable featuring senior officials from key resettlement and complementary pathways stakeholders, as well as refugee representatives to engage in meaningful discussions on third country solutions.

Refugee Advisory Group

Established in 2020, the Refugee Advisory Group (RAG) is the official body of refugee representatives at the Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways. Members of the RAG play an advisory role in the CRCP planning cycle and promote meaningful refugee participation in decision-making processes.
