World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: Liechtenstein

World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: Liechtenstein

1 April 2003

Kids play in a neighbourhood populated mostly by Iraqi refugees. Because refugees are not allowed to work in Syria, children often must take informal jobs to help support their families.

On the night of June 20, public buildings in Liechtenstein will be lit up in UN blue in honour of World Refugee Day.

As part of an awareness-raising campaign, UNHCR posters will be displayed along the main roads throughout the country. Schoolchildren will send written suggestions for improving the refugee situation.

On July 1, UNHCR's Representative for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Olivier Delarue, will join the chief of the government of Liechtenstein in opening the "Kids' Guernica", featuring an exhibition of drawings by children on the theme of peace.
