World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Czech Republic

Seminars and roundtables on refugee issues were organized in Prague, Ceske Budejovice, Brno and Ostrava.

WRD video spots were shown in various metro stations in Prague from 13-20 June. With the support of GTS Travel, a travel agency for young travellers, innovative refugee awareness messages were handed out with each ticket sold. These messages were also distributed to theatregoers in Prague in the run-up to WRD.

Aid agency Nesehnuti held a WRD benefit concert 20 June in the Brno club "Desert," while Refugee Counselling Centre organized another concert in Prague's La Fabrika club. Nesehnuti, working with Charitas, also provided entertainment for refugee children 20 June in Brno's Moravske square.

"Work is elsewhere, a travelling exhibition on migration organized by Multicultural Centre Prague, was opened on 20 June at Ostrava train station. The exhibition was followed by seminars and roundtable discussions for primary and secondary school students.
