UNHCR’s operations in Asia and the Pacific encompass two of the world’s largest forced displacement crises:
Afghanistan Situation
Some 3 million people are internally displaced due to conflict in Afghanistan, and over 24 million are in need of vital humanitarian relief.
UNHCR continues to deliver on its scaled-up response, focusing on the provision of cash assistance, core relief items and shelter. UNHCR also supports host governments and communities in their efforts to include Afghans in national services such as health and education.
Myanmar Situation
Violence against civilians and the intensified armed conflict following the events of February 2021 caused tens of thousands of refugees to flee to neighbouring countries and have displaced 3.1 million people within Myanmar.
UNHCR has called for comprehensive and regional approaches to durable solutions for some to 1.3 million refugees from Myanmar, such as voluntary repatriation and resettlement. We focus on the responsive and timely delivery of humanitarian assistance, strengthening community-based protection and resilience

Afghans are facing crisis upon crisis
After decades of conflict, nine in ten Afghans live in poverty, unemployment is soaring, and public services are insufficient to meet needs on the ground. The country continues to host one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, with more than half of the population estimated to need humanitarian assistance in 2024. Now, devastating flooding has destroyed homes across the country and forced people to flee once again.
Many displaced families lack sturdy shelters to protect them from the elements, basic items such as blankets, and cash for essentials, including food and medicine.
Your help is urgently needed. You can help give people displaced inside Afghanistan the life-saving support they need to survive.
Could provide a core relief item (CRI) kit to an Afghan family displaced by the floods. The CRI kit includes items such as blankets, a kitchen set, soap, jerry can, bucket, and gas cylinder
Could provide a 4x50 metre plastic tarpaulin roll to help create emergency shelters and keep families dry
Could provide an emergency shelter kit including 1 family tent and 2 plastic tarpaulins for an Afghan family displaced by the floods
