To mark World Refugee Day in 2013, UNHCR is presenting a multimedia artwork, Sanctuary & Sustenance: the story of many journeys, by Chicago-based group ART WORKS Projects for Human Rights
The work will be projected in several Central European capitals on and around World Refugee Day – including Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest, Warsaw, Ljubljana and Prague. It will also be shown in New York, Rome and Milan to celebrate World Refugee Day
Viewers will have the opportunity to trace the journey of a refugee family during the catastrophic events of displacement, on the path to sanctuary, and through the long process of rebuilding their lives in a new community.

First marked in 2001, World Refugee Day is held every year on June 20. Tens of thousands of people around the world take time to recognize and applaud the contribution of forcibly displaced people throughout the world.
The annual commemoration is marked by a variety of events in more than 100 countries, involving government officials, humanitarian aid workers, celebrities, civilians and the forcibly displaced themselves.
