Accreditation and registration
Journalists wishing to attend the Global Refugee Forum 2023 need to be accredited and registered in order to attend. Please note the process to register closed on 1 December 2023
Upon approval of your registration, you should have received a QR code (or e-badge) via email. You will be asked to scan your e-badge from your mobile phone at the Palexpo entrance during the Forum.
Please note that on-site accreditation and registration will not be available at the event. For any questions on accreditation and registration, please contact Emmanuelle Brand at [email protected].
Photographers and camera operators
If you or a member of your team are attending as a photographer or camera operator, in addition to accreditation and registration, please also email Emmanuelle Brand [email protected] to request camera access to Global Refugee Forum events and sessions. We will do our best to accommodate all requests, but we kindly ask correspondents to request access well in advance.
Please note, that press conferences are an exception. You do not need to request camera access if you are only planning to film or photograph official press conferences at the Forum.

Press conferences and press centre
Press conferences and stakeouts
A main press conference by UNHCR will be held around 14:30 CET on day one in room K. Subsequent briefings will be held in room F at palexpo. These will be announced to accredited media through email. They are likely to be held in English or French as the primary language, but interpretation may be provided. Ad hoc stakeouts may be held outside the main Plenary or at the VIP photo backdrop area.
UNTV and UNHCR.org will livestream the plenary sessions throughout the three days of the forum. Spillover room X will have viewing screens and an Audio/Visual feed for recording through SDI ports. These will also be available for the Nansen Refugee Award ceremony. If possible, we encourage media to use the video feed from the Plenary and Nansen Awards as the media zone will be quite far from the stage.
Press centre
On 13-15 December, UNHCR will operate a press centre.
On day one, room S1 on the ground floor near the main entrances will be available to all accredited press. For days two and three it is room G. It will include a screen to follow plenary (translation if needed will be via webcast). As access to the plenary is limited to pooled media, we recommend following the plenary from the press room or spillover room X.
Location
The Global Refugee Forum 2023 will be held at the Palexpo convention centre in Geneva, Switzerland.

Key events that may be of interest to media
UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award ceremony
- The 2023 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award ceremony will take place in Geneva on 13 December, on the opening night of the GRF at Palexpo. The programme will showcase the winners’ work and feature live artistic performances from award winning artists. The Nansen award is open to all journalists attending the Forum. Contact [email protected] to register.
Media attendance at side events
Details of high-level parallel events (side events), as well as linked events and the plenary session, are available in the programme. Media are welcome to attend most sessions, but we would recommend arriving early if you are interested in specific events as space is limited and once capacity is reached, doors will be closed. Once an event is finished, all participants are required to vacate the room to enable set-up for the next event. If you are not able to access the room, you can follow the events via a Zoom link that is available next to each event in the programme.
If you would like to interview any participants, please contact Mel Paramasivan [email protected] or William Spindler [email protected], and we will do our best to assist you.
Photos, video and transcripts
Photos, recorded webcasts of sessions and transcripts of delegates' statements will be available via the links below. All photos should be credited to UNHCR and include the name of the photographer.
If you require broadcast-quality video of sessions or events, please email [email protected] and include [email protected] and [email protected] in your request. We will do our best to assist you.
