World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Ghana
UNHCR will organise a public forum at the British Council Hall to draw attention to refugee issues. The UNHCR Representative, the Chairman of Ghana Refugee Board and a researcher will talk about different refugee issues in an interactive way.
Refugee artists will take part in a musical show.
UNHCR will also organise presentations about refugees in several schools.
On 20 June, the UNHCR World Refugee Day video about refugee youth will be broadcast on the national TV channel. A seminar for the media will be organised to raise awareness of refugee issues.
Special programmes on World Refugee Day will be aired on the radio.
In several refugee settlements, many events will be held to show people the positive contributions refugees can bring to their host country, including exhibitions of refugee arts and crafts.
A football match will be organised between a refugee team and a local team.
UNHCR will hold a youth forum in several refugee settlements to draw attention to the situation of refugee children. UNHCR will also organise a HIV/AIDS awareness campaign in the settlements.
