Education Pathways

Education Pathways

For most refugees, university is often out of reach, with only 6% accessing higher education in 2022. Education Pathways are university scholarships allowing refugees to study abroad and rebuild their lives through education.

The University as the Community

Refugee students arriving in Ireland on this pathway are supported by community sponsorship, where ordinary people come together to provide direct integration support to newcomers. This robust support system aids their integration, fostering not just adaptation but thriving in their new environment.

These pathways represent more than just an education; they symbolise a bridge to a brighter, secure future for those who have faced incredible challenges. Scholarships are granted based on merit and motivation, opening doors that had been long closed.

By implementing education pathways at your university, you can:

  • Open doors to higher education abroad for displaced individuals, enabling them to acquire skills and knowledge that will benefit both them and society.

  • Showcase your institution’s commitment to social responsibility, fostering a more inclusive campus that values contributions from diverse backgrounds.

  • Pave the way for a transformative model for community sponsorship, allowing your university to directly support the successful integration of refugees into Irish society.
