How to become a supplier

How to become a supplier

A woman smiles at the camera, holding some blankets. Behind her are other supplies like saucepans and blankets, and the logos of both UNHCR and WSTA.

Companies interested in engaging with UNHCR for business opportunities and tender processes are invited to register on the UNHCR Supplier registration portal. This centralized platform facilitates the registration process and provides access to all necessary information for submitting bids.

UNHCR encourages companies to also register on the online United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM), the UN's common procurement portal. The UNHCR global procurement service, along with regional and country offices, also publishes a broad range of open tenders on the UNGM.

Explore the detailed sections on this page for further understanding of both platforms, including registration procedures.

Building on the philosophy and achievements of the UN Global Compact, UNHCR envisions a world in which the private sector plays a constructive role in finding durable solutions for people forced to flee their homes. To achieve this, we proactively engage with corporations and foundations eager to help drive change and find innovative solutions to refugee issues. UNHCR also endeavors to undertake environmentally responsible sourcing of goods and services.

The UN Supplier Code of Conduct (UNSCC) outlines the expectations for all UN suppliers. Suppliers are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact that underlies the UNSCC.

Prospective suppliers to UNHCR are asked to:

  • create a profile on the UNHCR Supplier Portal
  • attach a copy of either:
    • their certificate of registration, vendor registration form
    • bank statement or letter of confirmation from the bank, demonstrating ownership of the account (including account number/IBAN no., SWIFT/BIC code).

UNHCR also recommends prospective suppliers register in the UNGM.

UNGM is a platform connecting UN procurement staff with suppliers interested in conducting business with the UN. Through the UNGM, suppliers can access tenders, contract awards and procurement opportunities from UNHCR and other UN agencies. The UNGM also provides valuable information and resources for engaging in business with the broader UN system.
