Embroidery Without Borders : An Exchange of Traditional Roots between India & Afghanistan

Embroidery Without Borders: An Exchange of Traditional Roots between India and Afghanistan was a 10-day cross-cultural exchange programme that brought together women artisan-designers from Gujarat’s Kutch region and Afghan artisan-refugee women. Over the course of the workshop, 10 artisan-designers developed culturally blended embroidery prototypes under the guidance of the IICD team. The initiative also aimed to strengthen market linkages and sustainable livelihood opportunities, supporting the economic empowerment and income generation of participating Afghan refugee women.
