Global Consultations meeting extended
Next month's first-ever meeting of the 141 States that have signed the 1951 UN Refugee Convention has now been extended to cover two days (Dec. 12-13) and will be followed by a special meeting of African ministers. Extra urgency has been added by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, which has brought to the fore numerous issues related to national security and the fight against terrorism. We've prepared the first in a series of special updates that will focus on some of the important issues to be discussed at this historic meeting.
