World Refugee Day 2002: Czech Republic

Radio Free Europe broadcast three two-hour programmes about refugees.

UNHCR established a network of partner schools in all the 14 regions in the country. Those schools organised art exhibitions with the theme of refugee women.

On 15 and 16 June, UNHCR films and other promotional materials were disseminated at the cultural festival "The Other Sex - a Female Festival" held at the Palace Akropolis in Prague.

UNHCR hosted a conference about the situation and integration strategies for refugees in the Czech Republic on 20 June in Prague. Local authorities and teachers were invited.

On 21 June, UNHCR videos were presented at the cultural and film festival in Policka, Eastern Bohemia.

On 27 June, a ceremony for refugee children took place under the auspices of the Chairman of the Senate in the Senate premises. The event was sponsored by CSFB Bank.
