World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Canada

As World Refugee Day coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Canadian Private Sponsorship programme, both events will be celebrated through a citizenship ceremony that will be hosted by the Governor General. A series of articles will be published in the Globe and Mail newspaper to celebrate both events.

The World Refugee Day TV spot will be broadcast during Word Refugee Day festivities.

UNHCR, with CBC Radio, will organise a series of refugee profiles that will be aired on national radio. The series will focus on how refugees who have come to Canada through the Private Sponsorship programme have succeeded in making Canada their home.
