World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Croatia

A mass walk in Quetta attended by the All Pakistan Youth Federation, UNHCR and its partner agencies, as well as government officials.

On June 3, the Human Rights Centre, the Croatian Legal Centre and UNHCR organised a roundtable debate called "Asylum in Croatia After 1 July 2004" in Zagreb. The organisers wanted to initiate a debate on the right to asylum, international legal standards in the protection of asylum seekers, and the Law on Asylum which will go into force on July 1.

On 17 June, the UNHCR Representative will participate in the HTV's major news programme, "Meridijan 16". He will make a presentation on the significance of World Refugee Day and on UNHCR's work around the world and in Croatia.

On 19 June, a UNHCR staff member will participate in the HTV's weekly programme on ethnic minorities, "Prizma". The programme will be partly dedicated to refugee issues. The UNHCR staff will talk about World Refugee Day and UNHCR's activities, especially in Croatia.

From 14-20 June, an Osijek-based NGO, "Centre for Peace", in collaboration with UNHCR, will hold an exhibition on World Refugee in the hall of Osijek city library. With UNHCR support, another NGO, "Legal Services Coalition", will organise a roundtable on refugee returns to Croatia around 20 June.
