World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Central African Republic

Refugee children wash their families' clothes in Djabal camp. Many children are overwhelmed with daily chores and as a result attend school only sporadically.

A carnival was organized in Bangui.
Some 125 people took part in a 5 kilometre race.
On 18-19 June, talent shows were held for refugees, including musicians and makers of handicrafts. Films were screened and games organized.
On 20 June, a drawing competition was organized followed by an awards ceremony.
