World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Ecuador

The Seventh Binational Cultural and Productive Fair was organized for World Refugee Day. More than 30,000 persons attended the 16-17 June event in Quito's Itchimbía Park, where 150 exhibitors (125 were refugees) sold handicrafts, organic products, food and many other products. Visitors were also entertained by different music groups.

In Lago Agrio a cultural and food festival took place in the cathedral. Refugees and Ecuadoreans sold their products to visitors while music groups from the province performed.

A cultural event and open-air market was organized in downtown Ibarra. Vendors sold Colombian and Ecuadorean food and handicrafts. Music groups played all day long.
