Volunteer Opportunity: English–Ukrainian Translation and Proofreading
Location: Online (Republic of Moldova)
Duration: 12 weeks | Commitment: 1–5 hours per week
UNHCR Moldova is seeking a dedicated Online Volunteer to support our communications team by translating and proofreading materials from English to Ukrainian. Your work will help ensure that information about refugee rights, services, and opportunities reaches the Ukrainian-speaking refugee community, as well as partners and stakeholders.
Since the onset of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Moldova has welcomed over 140,000 refugees—most of them women, children, and older persons. By joining us, you will contribute directly to our mission of protecting people forced to flee and fostering understanding between communities.
What you’ll do:
- Translate documents from English to Ukrainian (and occasionally Ukrainian to English)
- Proofread Ukrainian-language materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Maintain a coherent tone and style across all translated content
What we’re looking for:
- Native-level Ukrainian and fluent English
- Professional translation experience or a degree in translation, interpretation, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and cultural sensitivity
- Familiarity with humanitarian or refugee-related terminology is an asset
You will receive regular briefings, reference materials, and flexible deadlines to fit your schedule. This role is voluntary and fully online, offering a meaningful way to support refugees from anywhere.
