The radio campaign “Flimkien għal Malta Inklussiva/Together for an Inclusive Malta”, focuses on entrepreneurship within the refugee community living in Malta.

UNHCR Malta based the campaign on ‘One Love – African Bar & Restaurant’, which is co-owned by an Ethiopian couple, Sammy and Muna, and a Maltese man, Walter.

“We want to show the local population our food, so that people can understand our culture and traditions,” says Muna.

The restaurant specialises in Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine which characteristically consists of rich spicy vegetable and meat stews served on top of injera, a large sourdough flat bread. “Maltese people love our food! Before we opened we would invite our Maltese friends and cook for them,” Sammy explains.  “After a while we decided to open a restaurant”.

Throughout the campaign, UNHCR Malta used the voices of refugee entrepreneurs and Maltese nationals.

The Bay radio campaign ran from 30th August till the 15th September 2016.
