UNHCR in Albania works in cooperation with the relevant structures at the Ministry of Interior, namely Directorate for Asylum and Citizenship, Border and Migration Police, National Centre for Asylum Seekers, as well as with other line ministries and civil society to promote access to the asylum system for people in need of international protection, to provide them legal aid, psychosocial aid and accommodation, and to help asylum-seekers and refugees enjoy their rights and fulfil their obligations.
