What we want to achieve?

UNHCR in Serbia supports the Government of Serbia in developing the asylum and migration management system of Serbia in line with applicable international standards.

UNHCR in Serbia supports authorities and NGOs in Serbia working with refugees and IDPs by strenghtening their capacity to deal with issues related to protecting persons of concern and durable solutions.

Together with donors and partners, UNHCR has been promoting and assisting a two-pronged approach in achieving durable solutions for displaced from the region: voluntary return of those who opt to do so and local integration of those who cannot return.

UNHCR in Serbia works closely with the authorities and civil society to address and quantify the problem of statelessness, and create systemic solutions resolving the problems of Roma lacking birth registration and personal documentation.
