Syrians Come Home: Dispatch From Dar’a

12 Feb 2025

After years of exile, Syrians are returning home to Dar’a, a city still scarred by war. They arrive to find their houses in ruins, electricity scarce, and livelihoods uncertain, but the longing for home outweighs the hardship. UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency, is providing crucial support, including shelter and documentation, to help them rebuild.

Despite returning to a damaged home and lack of services, former refugee Ibtihal remains hopeful, but more international support is needed to meet humanitarian needs and ensure Syria’s lasting recovery.
