"It's really amazing to see how everything is so organized, and the help [UNHCR] is providing. I think most people think about an orangization such as UNHCR as providing clothes and blankets, but there are so many things they are supporting such as education, food. Anything you can imagine, they are supporting in all aspects."
Award-winning Swedish singer-songwriter Maher Zain, has been supporting UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency since World Refugee Day 2013.
Maher is known for his meaningful songs that inspire, entertain and send a message of hope and peace to the world. His music fuses Eastern and Western sounds with themes of spirituality, humanity, respect and love.
Before performing at the Nansen Refugee Award ceremony in September 2014, Maher travelled to Lebanon, the country of his birth. He visited our frontline operation to see the important work that UNHCR does to support and protect Syrian refugee families.
Maher has used his talents to assist with raising funds for UNHCR by performing at events, and he has also supported campaigns such as #WithRefugees.
