May 2002: Assigned his rights over his song, "Partir", which is used in a fund-raising campaign.
October 2002: Actively contributed to launching that campaign (by taking the floor at the press conference and through various interviews to explain the importance of the launch).
November 2002: Sponsored the "Ensemble pour l'UNHCR" (Together for UNHCR) boat entered in the 2002 Route du Rhum race, leaving from Saint Malo, France. Read the web story here.
January 2003: Principal guest on the French TV programme "Faut pas rêver", devoted entirely to UNHCR.
March 2003: Called for donations for UNHCR during various TV and radio broadcasts.
April 2003: Participated in the TV show, "Who wants to be a millionaire?" (nearly 8 million viewers), bringing in 268,000 euros for UNHCR.
June 2003: Supported various events for World Refugee Day.
October 2003: Julien Clerc was officially appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR during a grand ceremony in Paris bringing together many eminent personalities from the world of politics, business and arts. Read the web story here. The event was widely covered by the media.
March 2004: Undertook a mission to Chad (read the web story here) and a major fund-raising operation, "Pour la dignité d'une femme et le sourire de son enfant" (For the dignity of a woman and the smile of her child). He presided over the campaign launch dinner in Paris, during which he also performed.
April 2004: "Envoyé spécial" a TV programme, covering his trip to meet refugees in Chad, was broadcast.
June 2004: For World Refugee Day, hosted a 22 June event under the sponsorship of Schneider Electric. Read the web story here.
November 2004: Charity dinner held at the Etoile Club in the presence of some of UNHCR's most important and loyal corporate partners. Clerc presided over the dinner, inviting many friends from the political and artistic realms.
January 2005: On 9 January Clerc appeared on a primetime live audience television show on France 3, "On ne peut pas plaire à tout le monde". He called on viewers to donate to UNHCR in order to help fund its appeal for tsunami victims in Sri Lanka. On 15 January, Clerc appeared on another primetime French television show on France 2 calling again for the French to donate for the UNHCR.
April 2005: Clerc participated in a mission to Cameroon, to assist in the repatriation of Nigerians in the Banio region.
June 2005: Joined the celebration of the 2005 Nansen Refugee Award given to Ms. Marguerite Barankitse, a Burundian humanitarian worker and founder of Maison Shalom. The ceremony was held in Brussels on 22 June and was presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium. Read the web story here. November 2005: Performed at the UNHCR annual gala at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris. The renowned French singer Maxime Le Forestier also took part. Many corporate partners and friends were invited to this fund-raising event.
