World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: Tajikistan

A drawing competition on the theme, "My idea of a refugee", will be launched among secondary school students in Khatlon and Sugd.

Two teams of law students will present case studies on refugee law to a commission of judges comprising NGO Society and law professors from the Tajik National State University, where the debate will take place.

UNHCR will participate in a Radio Asia Plus programme about the agency and its work in Tajikistan. Prior to the broadcast, listeners can call in with questions, which will be answered by the UNHCR Representative during the show on 19 June.

A fair, "Celebrate Refugee Day", will be held at the Refugee Legal and Social Centre on 20 June. Activities include a volleyball game by Afghan refugee girls, a football game by Afghan refugee boys, and an exhibition-sale of products made by Afghan refugee women and Tajik returnee women involved in the UNHCR-funded income-generation projects. There will also be a concert and a fashion show.
