Barbados
UNHCR continues to support refugees and asylum-seekers in Barbados*, where access to employment remains limited and work permits are routinely denied, restricting opportunities for self-reliance and increasing vulnerability to informal work risks.
To help meet urgent needs, UNHCR and its partners provide targeted assistance, including cash support and mental health and psychosocial services. Public outreach and capacity-building activities are also expanded, with virtual training sessions and the distribution of multilingual materials on gender-based violence prevention and referral pathways, in collaboration with local organizations.
*The operations in Barbados are coordinated by the Panama multi-country office.
