Русский | Қазақ

On 26 May UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MLSPP) signed Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation on protection and integration of refugees and asylum seekers in Kazakhstan.

As part of the meeting dedicated to signing the Memorandum, both parties discussed the joint work plan for 2023 including implementation of the Action plan of the Migration Policy for 2023-27 which provides for preparation of proposals for aligning the norms of national legislation in line with  provisions of the 1951 Convention, in terms of providing refugees with access to healthcare, employment, education and social assistance on an equal basis with citizens and permanently residing foreigners in the period of their stay in the territory of Kazakhstan to achieve sustainable socio-economic development and full and productive employment.

UNHCR and MLSPP expressed their shared commitment to continue their fruitful cooperation in order to improve the overall situation of refugees in Kazakhstan.

UNHCR works together with MLSPP and other partners in Kazakhstan on taking joint efforts to ensure that refugees and asylum seekers in Kazakhstan have access to healthcare, employment, education and social assistance on par with citizens. This inclusive approach is expected to contribute significantly to integration of the refugees and asylum seekers and achievement of sustainable social and economic development.
