The Office of the UNHCR was established on 14 December 1950 by the UN General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country (www.unhcr.org).

The Global Learning and Development Centre (GLDC) is transforming its support to Bureaux, Operations, and the workforce at large. This is an integral part of the Divisions of Human Resources overall Business Transformation. This exciting journey includes shifting activities across GLDC towards more agile, integrated and talent-oriented support – mostly in the flow-of-work.

In this context, GLDC have started a pilot project that aims to support Bureaux based Senior Human Resources Partners with a full-time talent Management Advisor. This role is two-fold. Firstly, provision of support to Bureaux and Operations in terms of talent acquisition, talent retention, talent development and career development. Secondly, to identify and co-create integrated solutions to Bureaux people management issues drawing on GLDC activities and DHR activities to deliver agile and results focused solutions.
