UNHCR’s Islamic Philanthropy Annual Report 2023 Launch

20 Feb 2023

UNHCR’s Islamic Philanthropy Annual Report 2023 Launch

UNHCR’s Islamic Philanthropy Report showcases the impact of Zakat, Sadaqah, and other Islamic funding received by UNHCR, and thus conveys the importance of using Islamic Philanthropy (IP) to support displaced persons. The report includes data and statistics, impact stories, acknowledgment of key partners, as well as information about endorsements of UNHCR’s work by Islamic scholars and institutions, among others.

The publication of the report is an opportunity to share the impact of Islamic funding on UNHCR’s work and on the lives of refugees, thank and give visibility to UNHCR’s Islamic partners and show that funding was used in full compliance with the requirements of Islamic funding. The report publication is accompanied by a range of communications activities, including press releases and events, as relevant.

As the home of two major hubs for Islamic Philanthropy (Indonesia and Malaysia), the Asia region holds some of the strongest potential to leverage Islamic funding to make a positive impact in the lives of the most vulnerable. Efforts to capture this potential have been increasing since the end of 2020. For the publication of the 2023 Islamic Philanthropy report, it is suggested to organize a launch event in Indonesia.

Event Overview

The event is to be co-hosted with a prominent and trusted Islamic institution or entity with a huge and strategic influence in the Islamic ecosystem in Asia. Having a prestigious organization such as Bank Syariah Indonesia as a co-host would be key to the success of this event.

The event will take place physically in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is hoped that approximately 100 attendees will attend. The event will also be live-streamed online.
