Internally Displaced People
An internally displaced person (IDP) is someone who has been forced to flee his or her home due to conflict or disaster, but who remains within the borders of his or her country.

In Indonesia, as elsewhere, UNHCR only provides protection and assistance to IDPs at the Government’s request, as was the case with the 2004 tsunami in Aceh/ Nias Island and the 2018 tsunami and earthquake in Central Sulawesi.
Currently there are no IDPs being assisted by UNHCR in Indonesia.
