  • The National Department of Home Affairs will launch through the media and related avenues a public information campaign which will include advertisements on national television, radio and billboards aimed at promoting tolerance towards refugees. (12 June).
  • A comic strip will appear in the Daily Sun, from the week of 22 May, in which issues affecting refugees in their interaction with South African society will be highlighted.
  • South African and African music will launch the Song of Hope in Newton, Johannesburg, on Youth Day, which will be a platform to promote tolerance. (16 June).
  • Through artwork, refugees will depict to an audience including the Minister of Home Affairs, UNHCR, partner organizations and the public at large, their interpretation of hope, courage and respect. The photo exhibition will be held in the Constitution Hill, Johannesburg. (20 June).
  • Provincial media will be apprised of the activities planned to mark World Refugee Day in the city of Cape Town. (15 June).
  • In the Civic Centre, the city of Cape Town will launch an exhibition to display refugee skills and stories depicting the life and times of that city's refugees. A cultural activity will be held on a daily basis for the exhibition's duration. Schools and diverse organisations will be invited to attend. (19-23 June).
  • A conference with refugee representatives and leaders will be held in the Council Chambers. Refugees will engage with relevant City Council staff on the challenges they encounter in accessing services and other issues in Cape Town. (20 June).
  • An art exhibition will be opened at Concourse, Civic Centre, on 20 June.
