World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: India

A UNHCR-funded book on refugee protection in India will be released, together with a paper was written by individual researchers and edited by the Calcutta Research Group. UNHCR will also organise a panel discussion around the same theme at the India Habitat Centre.

The National Law School (NLSIU) will organise an event at a Sri Lankan refugee school in Bangalore. UNHCR will host similar events in Chennai.

UNHCR's partner organisations (ND YMCA, VHAD, Don Bosco, ABRC, Khalasa Diwan Welfare Society, Nawa Jawan Society and Umeed World Vision Project) will organise events with a focus on refugee youth. The local refugee-hosting population will be invited in an attempt to foster better relations between refugees and their host community.
