Apart from spontaneous and individual returns, first initiatives for organized repatriations have been taken.

In early 2021, following an initiative of the both governments and the informed decision of Nigerian refugees in Minawao camp in Cameroon, a tripartite commission has agreed on conditions for organized repatriation from this camp. Several convoys have subsequently repatriated refugees to Bama and Banki towns in Borno State. UNHCR assisted with information, advice on protection safeguards and post-return monitoring.
