Have an idea of your own? Turn your passions into meaningful action and help bring hope to people forced to flee.
On September 19, Ishtar Mediterranean Pub Makati and DiscollectiveMNL brought people together for Playback, a fundraising event supporting families affected by the earthquakes in Mindanao.
The evening brought together vinyl DJ sets, community, and storytelling, featuring the top three films from UNHCR’s 4th Refugee Film Festival competition, created by students. Before each screening, guests explored the films’ connections to UNHCR’s advocacy for refugees, stateless people, and displaced communities, showing how music and creative expression can inspire empathy and action.
Through initiatives like Playback, supporters help UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, provide life-saving assistance to people displaced by conflict and climate-related disasters. Following the earthquakes in Mindanao this year, more than 5,000 people have received cash assistance to help meet urgent needs, including food, medicine, and other essentials as they recover and rebuild.
